About Me

 My name is Lyn Nakumura, a Los Angeles–based hairstylist and free-form ceramicist. My mission is to support survivors of domestic abuse by creating opportunities for safety, empowerment, and a fresh start.

My journey began with the hope that a relationship with my high school sweet heart would overcome years of substance abuse. When it became clear that it could not, I found the courage to leave and rebuild a life for myself and my son. While my story found healing and forgiveness, I know many others are still searching for safety.

Through the creation and sale of my ceramic work, all proceeds will go toward funding a safe house for families leaving unsafe environments—a place designed to support long-term stability and prevent cycles of return.

The name Kamaluhia, meaning “peace and protection,” was gifted to me by my Kumu (hula teacher). I sign my ceramic pieces with Kamaluhia, which will also be the name of the safe house.

Hawaii is where I was born and raised and where my heart will always feel at home, this is why I am creating a safe house there.  When you purchase a one-of-a-kind Kamaluhia Ceramic, you will help bring this to life.
